Los Angeles Vapes is committed to preventing underage access to tobacco and vapor products in California.

Under California law (Business & Professions Code §22950-22963) and federal regulations, all customers must be at least 21 years of age to purchase any tobacco or vaping products. We take this responsibility seriously at our Los Angeles vape shop.

Our Age Verification Commitment

At Los Angeles Vapes, we strictly verify the age of every customer before completing any sale. This is not just our policy—it’s California law.

We check ID for everyone who appears under 27 years of age.

Acceptable Forms of Identification

We accept only valid, unexpired, government-issued photo identification at our vape shop, including:

  • California Driver’s License or State ID
  • U.S. Passport or Passport Card
  • U.S. Armed Forces ID
  • Valid out-of-state driver’s license
  • Other government-issued photo ID with birthdate

We cannot accept expired IDs, photocopies, digital images, student IDs, or any non-government issued identification.

Electronic ID Scanning for Age Verification

For your protection and ours, Los Angeles Vapes uses Electronic ID Scanner technology at all points of sale.

This eliminates human error in age calculation and ensures compliance with California law.

Our expert team is trained to verify every customer’s age properly.

Our Staff Training

Every Los Angeles Vapes team member is trained to request valid ID from anyone appearing under 27 years of age.

Our staff properly verifies identification documents and politely refuses sales to anyone without proper ID or under 21.

We follow all California Department of Public Health (CDPH) guidelines.

Our trained staff will say:

“I’m sorry, I can’t sell tobacco or vaping products without a valid, government-issued photo ID. May I see yours, please?”

Or they may use our policy approach:

“It’s our store policy and California law to check IDs for everyone who appears under 27. May I see your ID?”

If We Must Refuse a Sale

If you cannot provide valid identification or are under 21, our staff will respectfully decline the sale.

“I’m sorry, I can’t sell this to you. It’s against the law, and I could be fined or lose my job for selling to anyone under 21.”

We understand this may be disappointing, but we appreciate your understanding. These laws exist to protect public health.

California Compliance Requirements

Los Angeles Vapes fully complies with all California tobacco retail laws for our vape shop.

STAKE Act Compliance

  • We display mandatory age-of-sale warning signs posted at every cash register.
  • Our valid California tobacco retail license is displayed prominently.
  • Regular compliance training for all staff members is conducted monthly.

SB 793 Flavor Ban Compliance

  • We do not sell flavored tobacco products prohibited under California law at our Los Angeles vape shop.
  • This includes most flavored e-cigarettes and menthol products.
  • Limited exceptions apply for certain premium cigars only.

No Military Exemption

As of December 20, 2019, there is no exemption for active military personnel.

All customers must be 21 years old or older, including service members.

Penalties for Non-Compliance

California takes underage tobacco sales extremely seriously. As of January 2025, civil penalties are severe.

  • First violation results in $1,000 to $1,500 civil penalty.
  • Second violation increases to $2,000 to $3,000 civil penalty.
  • Third violation reaches $3,000 to $5,000 civil penalty.
  • Subsequent violations can reach up to $20,000 or more with potential license suspension.

Online Age Verification

When you shop for vape products online, age verification is required at multiple points.

  • You must confirm you are 21 years old or older before browsing our vape shop.
  • Age verification is required again at checkout.
  • We verify age verification once more upon delivery to your location.
  • Valid government-issued photo ID must be presented to the delivery driver.
  • We reserve the right to refuse delivery if proper ID cannot be verified.
